h3. File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Service

The Southwood Shared Resource Center supports File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) and encrypted File Transfer Protocol via Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) on the Sun platform. An FTP site is defined by the top level directory for file storage and the related Domain Name Service (DNS) entires. Client access to FTP sites is the responsibility of the customer. Anonymous access to an FTP site is not available. Distribution of passwords to customer clients is the sole responsibility of the customer.

Five service levels are identified for FTP Services.

h3. Web Hosting Services

The Website Hosting Service provides customers the opportunity to host their Web sites in the infrastructure at the Southwood Shared Resource Center (SSRC). The hardware, operating system, and network infrastructure is fully managed by the SSRC, and system availability is monitored 24 hours a day. Database Management Systems (DBMS) servers are available for database hosted information content.

This service offering is for information content delivery Web sites only, and not Online transaction processing (OLTP) Web-based applications. Web sites that utilize Web applications that generate more than an average of 30 add/change/delete transactions per day are considered OLTP Web-based applications. For hosting needs of OLTP Web-based applications, SSRC offers a shared and dedicated server management service that provides computing resources for higher-end application processing.

Four subscription plans are available for easy site expansion and simplified budgeting – "Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum":/web_hosting_services0809.html. Plan characteristics are identified "here":/web_hosting_services0809.html.
